SME Direct Investment Program (u.capital) is looking to become a trusted financial and a growth partner. Our goal is not just to provide capital, but to help companies build or strengthen their competitiveness toolkit drawing on decades of our experience of investing in the region. Once we invest, we are fully committed to our partners’ success.
Our investment strategy is based on “doing well by doing good” principle. We are looking to generate attractive investment returns while meeting non-financial strategic objectives for Ukraine and Moldova.

SME Direct Investments Program (u.capital)
The Product:
We are ready to provide both equity financing, targeting minority and significant minority stakes, as well as non-dilutive quasi-equity financing.
INVESTMENT CRITERIA
Target Companies:
- Companies looking for $2 to $5 million investment to finance production expansion, cross-border expansion, new market entry, M&A, consolidation of ownership.
- Companies with current annual revenues of at least $5 million for Moldova and at least $10 million for Ukraine.
- Companies that are on a solid trajectory to at least double their revenue in 5 years growing profitably.
- Companies with committed owners that are looking for long-term (5-6 years) patient capital and a partner that will help their companies grow.
- Companies run by management teams with verifiable track record that identified and pursue unique growth opportunities.
Sectors:
- With exception of “exclusion list” investments, we are mostly sector agnostic.
What we do not finance:
- Start-up (operating history of less than 3 years).
- Early-stage venture capital.
- Greenfields. Real estate development.
- Companies in distressed or turnaround situations.
- Companies operating in territories adjacent to the war zone (for Ukraine).
- Hard liquor, weapons and munitions manufacturing, miltech.

For Moldova, long-term patient capital is vital for businesses aiming to scale and compete on a regional and global level.
