Alex Baron

Alex Baron is a technology founder and artificial intelligence specialist, and the co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Ovia Health. He co-founded the company in 2011 and led its technology and data strategy for fifteen years, building a women’s and family health platform that grew to more than 20 million users and reached approximately 25% of all U.S. pregnancies at its peak. He architected the machine learning systems behind the platform’s personalized guidance, among the earliest applications of machine learning in women’s health, and held executive accountability for its security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance program. Ovia Health was acquired by Labcorp in 2021, and Mr. Baron remained as Chief Technology Officer through 2026.

Prior to founding Ovia Health, Mr. Baron was a research scientist at BBN Technologies (later Raytheon) from 2001 to 2013, conducting research in natural language processing and statistical machine learning.

Originally from Moldova, Mr. Baron earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brandeis University, his A.M. in Statistics from Harvard University, and his B.S. in Computer Science from Iowa State University.
